Biography
Evan was born on May 17, 2003 at 2:39 am. He weighed 6 lbs. 14 oz. and he was 18 1/2 inches long.  His natural parents could not take care of him and gave him to his grandma and grandpa.  He has lived with us since he was 10 weeks old.  We are raising his as our son, and he has 3 older brothers and an older sister.  Evan was diagnosed with NF type 1 and Pulmonary Stenosis at birth.  He is the 4th generation NF type 1 in our family.

We moved to NC when Evan was 4.  Our new pediatrician had us see a specialist in genetics.  Evan's first MRI was at age 18 mos and was clear, and then his next one at age 4 1/2 showed a Glioma on the brain stem.  Evan then saw a neurosurgeon, and then finally an onclogist.  He had a port-a-cath inserted in his chest and then he started Carboplatin and Vincristine chemotherapy on Oct 31, 2008.  Evan goes in once a week for 4 weeks, off 2 then back again for 4 weeks.  This is one half of the cycle and he has 12 cycles to complete, he is currently in his 4th cycle.  Evan has an MRI done every 4 months to check the progress of the chemo and if its shrinking the Glioma, so far there is no change in the Glioma.  Evan's older brother had a Glioma and was on the same protocol as he is on.

Evan has 2 younger siblings who have NF as well.  Evan is in school and will start the kdg/1st grade inclusion class in August 2009.  He is looking forward to going back to school and seeing his friends again from last year.
