Biography
Caleb was born on February 5, 1994. He was a very happy, healthy baby. In addition to his parents, he was welcomed home by an older sister and brother. In 2000, our family was completed by Caleb's younger brother. Caleb was rarely ill as a youngster. We always called him "the healthy kid". Sometimes his doctor's visits were so infrequent, the receptionists would ask if Caleb was seeing a different physician.

In early 2009, Caleb developed a cough that prompted several routine doctor's visits. He was treated for asthma, but wasn't able to shake the cough for many weeks. After the cough finally went away, he seemed weak, tired and pale. In early May we took him to our doctor for blood work, thinking he might be anemic.
That same day we were sent to our local hospital ER, and then transported by ambulance to Children's Hospital in Detroit.

Caleb was diagnosed with Leukemia- ALL T-cell. Since he was diagnosed in May, he has had a dozen spinals, weekly and sometimes daily chemo treatments, cranial radiation, blood tranfusions, developed allergies to chemos, and lost one of his grandmothers. Many days he isolated and too weak to participate in basic family activities. He spends a lot of time resting and sleeping in bed. Many of his favorite hobbies- reading, writing, listening to music, and  playing video games are too exhausting for him most days of the week. His treatment is expected to last three more years.
