Aidan was born in Jerusalem at 26 weeks, weighing in at 1 lb. 8 oz. He was ventilated at birth for lack of breathing. He developed IVH Grade 2, ROP Stage 2, BPD, CLD, Kidney stones, hypertension, and they have yet to figure out if he will hear out of his left ear.
He stayed on the ventilator for 59 days and in the NICU for 135 days. He has since been transferred back to the States on a commercial airplane in an incubator (quite a story!), and been rehospitalized 3 times for failure to thrive.
Today, he is on continuous oxygen for dangerously high breathing rates, an NG tube for feedings since he has a lot of feeding issues, and receives both physical and speech therapies. All that said, he is an incredibly happy boy who is our miracle!
